Sources

Every feed this desk reads

This site reports from open sources and never alters their content. Every headline is carried as the outlet published it — same words, same order, no rewrite and no cut — with the outlet’s name and the time it went up attached to the line.

The directory

The 268 feeds below are public, open and keyless, and all of them are fetched server-side — RSS/Atom endpoints are read as feeds, and the rest are read directly from the page. The status beside each name is the result of the most recent poll: green means the feed responded, amber means it did not.

Staging note: per-feed poll status renders from the desk’s poller on the live site. The register below is the desk’s full published directory, verbatim; live board status is carried by the snapshot on the board pages.

Information only — not investment, legal or financial advice. No buy/sell signals or price targets.

Wires & Global (12)

General international wire services and public broadcasters, read for the broad picture and for confirmation of items reported elsewhere.

Middle East (15)

Outlets reporting from the Levant, the Gulf and the Red Sea corridor, carried for regional coverage the international wires reach later.

Asia & Indo-Pacific (22)

Desks covering China, Taiwan, Japan, the Koreas, South Asia and South-East Asia, where the wire moves fastest on Indo-Pacific developments.

Europe (24)

Continental European desks — Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and the pan-European press — for the EU institutions and the wider continent.

Russia & Ukraine (11)

Independent Russian and Ukrainian reporting on Russia, Ukraine and the wider eastern flank, published in English.

Africa (12)

Outlets reporting from North, West, East and Southern Africa, where the international wires move thinnest.

Latin America (15)

Desks covering South America, Central America and the Caribbean, in English where the outlet publishes it.

Arctic, Polar & High North (6)

High-north reporting and polar science — the Arctic press and the research bodies tracking sea ice, permafrost and the northern sea routes. Every entry is filed to the Arctic & High North region band, so its items are classified and plot on the situation map.

Cyber & Technology (7)

Security trade press covering vulnerabilities, breaches, ransomware and AI incidents without one territory.

Cyber Authorities & CERTs (9)

National cyber-security authorities and computer emergency response teams, each issuing its own advisories and alerts. An advisory from the issuing authority speaks for itself and is graded CONFIRMED, and every entry is filed to the Cyber & AI band so its items plot as pins. CISA’s advisories and Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, the NSA, the FBI and the Justice Department’s National Security Division are carried in the Cyber & Technology and U.S. federal groups and are not polled twice.

Weather & Earth Systems (11)

The meteorological and geophysical authorities: tropical-cyclone warning centres, national and European weather services, and the global disaster and satellite-monitoring bodies. Each release is the issuing authority speaking for itself and is graded CONFIRMED, and every entry is filed to a region band so its items plot on the map. The National Weather Service, the National Hurricane Center, the USGS earthquake programme and the Space Weather Prediction Center are carried in the U.S. federal group and are not polled twice.

Official & Institutional (16)

Primary official advisories and institutional releases. The issuing authority speaks for itself, which is why items from here are graded CONFIRMED.

Analysis & OSINT (16)

Independent analysis institutions and conflict monitors. These are ASSESSMENT sources, not news wires: their output is judgement, conflict monitoring and verified open-source work rather than primary reporting, and each one is labelled below as an analysis / monitor source so the difference is plain. Every entry is assigned to one of the desk’s region bands, so its items are classified and plot on the map like any other feed.

Health & Nuclear Institutions (6)

Public-health and nuclear authorities and watchdogs — the World Health Organization, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the ProMED outbreak-reporting network, with the IAEA, the Nuclear Threat Initiative and the Federation of American Scientists. Releases from an issuing authority are graded CONFIRMED; the watchdogs are carried as assessment. Every entry is assigned to a region band, so its items plot on the map. The IAEA’s top-news feed and the WHO’s disease outbreak desk are carried elsewhere in the directory and are not polled twice.

Court records and legal-watch sources: the Free Law Project’s court opinion and docket search feeds. A feed here is built per search query, so it reports only what its own search terms matched and nothing more, and coverage of a given court varies with what that court publishes.

U.S. Federal & Government (77)

U.S. federal agencies’ own newsrooms, alert feeds and press-release pages, filed under eight subheads: national security and intelligence, homeland and emergency, public health, energy and environment, finance and economy, transport and infrastructure, science and space, and the remaining federal institutions. Each source is the issuing agency’s own endpoint, read as RSS where one is published and fetched from the page where it is not, and a source that fails is marked amber with the reason rather than replaced.

DC Live Watch (8)

The Washington DC watch endpoints the console checks from inside the desk — the network stations (ABC7/WJLA, NBC4 Washington and FOX 5 DC), WUSA9, the White House, C-SPAN, the DC Council and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. They are PAGE-WATCH sources, not feeds: each is a watch page whose live state is drawn by scripts in a visitor’s browser, with no machine-readable live flag, manifest or status field behind it. The poll therefore records only whether the page answered, the HTTP status it returned, the verbatim refusal text and the elapsed time, and parses no item. A page that answers was REACHABLE and nothing more — it is not evidence of an active broadcast — so a row in this group reads REACHABLE, TIMEOUT, BLOCKED, UNREACHABLE or NOT CHECKED and is never shown as live.

Grading and cadence

The desk's publishing cadence by lane, its source of truth and how each lane is run.

LaneCadenceSource of truth
Life-safetyseconds–minutesNWS CAP, IPAWS (licensed), USGS
Automation pollhourly 05:00–23:00 MDTscheduled server-side edition writer
Human desk06 / 12 / 18 MT plus interruptson-camera edition lock
Cyber / CIwhen CISA / IC3 dropadvisories feed
Energy / shipssession + UKTMOEIA, CME, UKMTO, Oman navy

The edition writer runs SERVER-SIDE — a scheduled worker that reads the feeds on the poll’s own cadence and writes the edition file this desk displays. It is never run in a reader’s browser, and no AI or API key is ever called from the browser or shipped in the page. The page only re-reads the finished, dated edition file.

A feed that stops responding is named above rather than quietly dropped, and it is retried on every poll. Items taken directly from an official advisory are graded CONFIRMED; everything else is graded UNVERIFIED until it can be confirmed from a second, independent source.
