The SB Sentinel · Live alert map
Today’s Alerts, Plotted
The standing situation map above shows the desk’s watched regions. This one shows where today’s alerts actually are: one marker for every place the current alert set names, graded by the same severity bands the wire band carries. Open a marker for the headline, the band, the source, the filing time and what it means.
Staging note: the plotted map renders as the board list below — the same items, from the same snapshot.
Markets wire
Markets and commodities reference
Crude oil, natural gas, gold and silver, equity indices, bonds, currencies and any halt or selloff in the trading of them.

Global Threat Alerts
The desk’s global board: what to watch across four time windows, the thirteen categories the world is filed under, the same picture stated in plain language for American readers, and the sourcing honesty line. Every part of it reads the one poll the map and the wire band already run on, and nothing here is filled in when a feed stays silent.

BRICS WATCH
Bloc-level developments — summits and joint declarations, membership and accession, payment and currency initiatives, bloc trade and energy agreements.
Why this desk exists
The SB Sentinel exists to close a specific gap: the hours between a foreign government or non-English press disclosure and its arrival in English-language coverage.
Most international news reaches American readers through a chain of translation and aggregation that takes hours, sometimes days. During that window, decisions get made without the full picture — by families assessing risk, by businesses with overseas exposure, by travellers, and by anyone whose plans touch a region in flux.
This desk reads the primary sources directly. Government advisories, wire services, regional press in their own languages, official filings and machine-generated feeds. Each item is graded against a fixed source hierarchy — primary advisory, wire service, analysis organisation, press, social — so a reader can see not only what we are reporting but how much weight it deserves. Each is traced to its American consequence: how it reaches U.S. soil, U.S. households, or the U.S. wallet.
The standard we hold ourselves to is restraint. A failing source shows grey, never a false green. An empty alert list is reported as no active bulletins. Unverified figures are labelled unverified. We do not name an actor a government has not named. And we state plainly what open-source work can and cannot do: it can beat U.S. media by hours; it does not beat U.S. intelligence on classified material. We do not pretend otherwise.
The SB Sentinel is an independent desk. It is not investment, legal or financial advice. It is a disciplined reading of what governments and official sources are already saying, published as early as the record allows.
